
Mobile Marketing has been getting a lot of publicity from QR codes, SMS (Text messaging) to Pay per call and rightfully so. I have felt for a while now that mobile marketing will be a very powerful tool for marketing. From what I have noticed any business can benefit from it. I am not saying every business needs to use all methods of mobile marketing but at least one or two of them. I will start with one for this post and post the others in following posts.
QR Codes

QR codes are great marketing tools and traffic drivers. They are only good with smart phones since the QR code must be scanned to see anything. The market for smart phones is blowing up and QR codes will only be more effective as time goes on. I have actually seen QR codes on TV and really not sure if it’s effective or not. I really doubt it with the short amount of time for people to pull out a phone and scan. However it was probably just done to look cool. Taco Bell is putting them on their cups too. So even the big corps are starting to jump on the band wagon. The cool thing is, even the small businesses can use them effectively! Below are some great methods on how to utilize this tool along with a FREE QR code generator to create them.
Below are methods that QR codes can be used for.
- Depending on what kind of business you can embed coupons in the QR code for your customer to scan and bring in to you.
- You could advertise it on a newspaper or direct mail type of print media.
- You could have it on a counter or in a check out area to entice people to impulse buy, by giving an offer.
- It can be put on product so consumers can scan to learn more about it. This saves room on the label instead a company trying to cram a bunch of information on the label.
- Can be used to send people to a landing page to collect emails.
- Great for Realtors to put on a flyer or on a sign in front of a house for people to learn more about the home.
- Can be used to send people to videos…For example a Realtor can put a QR code on a sign in front of the home to send people to a video they did in the home to give the consumer a nice visual of it.
- Reviews- You can use them to send consumers to a Google reviews page to give you a review instantly
- Send people to “Like” your Facebook page
- You can run scavenger hunts with them
The bottom line is you can get as creative as you choose. QR codes are great mobile tools and will only be getting more popular over the next couple years and as more smart phones hit the market.

What’s a presentation junkie you might be wondering? Well the biggest sign of a presentation junkie is someone who gives a lot of presentations, but goes home or back to the office with NO business or sales. Below are some serious signs of someone who has a presentation problem…If you are a friend, co worker or business owner, you better get them some help fast! If this sounds like you, then you get the point…A presentation intervention is in need!
Signs of presentation junkie:
- Giving a ton of presentations but bringing no bacon home or to the office
- All they talk about is presentations
- They start presenting before they even ask questions
- Never qualifies a prospect
- Gets used for information and tossed on the street. Getting Used and abused!
- Brags about how great they are at giving a presentation and can’t understand why no one buys from them.
- Their number one goal is to give presentations
I will stop there, you get the point! If you are someone like that or know someone who is, it’s time to take serious action! This is a killer in confidence and the sales cycle. You are losing a sale before you even start the presentation.
Let me ask you this, why the hell would you give a presentation before you have answers to the below first?
- What are they doing or using now?
- Do they even need what you have?
- What’s their pain? You need to dig the pain out of them so you can show them how you can solve their problem.
- Do they have the funds to buy now and, if not, when will they have funds to buy from you?
- Is the person you are speaking with the person who makes the ultimate decision?
If you don’t have the answers to the first three, how can you present? You are giving a blind presentation without those answers! Number four is a killer! If they can’t buy NOW because of budget or don’t have the funds, why give your valuable time and information? Why be used so they can go beat up your competition and buy from them? Number 5! We all know how many times we have presented to some schmuck who pretends to be the decision maker and when it’s all said and done, they can’t even make the decision to go take a piss when they want or need to take one. Someone else makes that decision! Screw that!!
Your freakin’ CRAZY if you are doing any of the above and it is time for a change, TODAY! From now on you will have those answers first, so when you present, you know how to solve their pain, you will know they can buy TODAY before you spew hard earned information to them. You will not present unless you have a commitment first! Why present if they aren’t willing to make a decision now! If they can’t commit to something, then leave or hang up, YOU DON”T NEED THEM! They are not worth your time. Let them know you will be more than willing to help them when they are ready to work with you. You don’t need them sucking up your time when you can be working with people that won’t! So let’s take different actions and kick some butt!
