Sales Professional VS. Sales Person

by adamk

I like to say “become a sales professional not a sales person”

I am always asked what I mean by that so I am doing this quick post about it.  There are few differences that stick out right away as you see below.

SALES PROFESSIONAL:

  • Respected
  • In control
  • Has a sales system
  • Ask the right questions
  • Qualifies Quickly
  • Doesn’t waste time
  • Markets themselves
SALES PERSON:
  • Not respected
  • Not In Control
  • All over the place
  • Wastes time
  • Doesn’t qualify quickly
  • Lets or expects “the company” market themselves. (LAZY)
A sales person gets pushed around by the prospect and gets NO respect from them. On the other hand a sales professional is taken seriously and has the respect of a prospect. They are a professional and treated as one, no different from a doctor or attorney for example. They ask the right questions!
A sales person is always hit with rejection which drains them mentally and physically. The are stuck and feel trapped. The sales person then  finds busy work because they are afraid to move forward taking no action. Of course this creates NO RESULTS!
A sales professional keeps moving forward with action with Stealth. They move fast from asking the right questions and qualifying quickly. They work smart not hard. If this is not you it might be time for a change, don’t you think?
